Overview
The Selective Sync to SharePoint feature allows users to sync specific documents instead of syncing everything at once. However, this feature has a dependency: a bulk sync must be completed first before selective sync can be used.
Key Features
Bulk Sync to SharePoint – Syncs all documents to a defined folder
Selective Sync – Allows syncing only selected documents
Separate Folder Configuration – Bulk sync and selective sync are stored in different SharePoint folders
Fallback Naming Logic – Ensures documents still sync even if document type is not defined
Important Notes
Selective sync will not work unless a bulk sync has been completed first
Folder paths are pre-configured at the enterprise level
Naming conventions are not user-configurable
Unknown document types will still sync using a default naming convention
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Perform Bulk Sync
Navigate to the Document Collection section in Infinity
Click on “Sync to SharePoint”
Wait for the sync process to complete
This may take a few seconds depending on the number of documents
Once completed, documents will appear in the configured Bulk Sync folder in SharePoint
Step 2: Confirm the bulk sync completed successfully
After the bulk sync finishes, verify that the documents appear in the configured bulk sync folder in SharePoint.
Open your SharePoint site
Confirm that documents have been successfully synced
Step 3: Use Selective Sync
After the bulk sync finishes, in the Document Collection section, click “Select”
Do not proceed until the initial sync is fully complete.
Choose the specific documents you want to sync
Click “Sync to SharePoint”
Selected documents will now sync to the Selective Sync folder
Step 4: Verify the selected documents in SharePoint
Open SharePoint and confirm the selected documents appear in the correct sync folder.
Check that only the chosen documents were synced.
Use this final review to ensure the sync was completed accurately.
Folder Configuration
Bulk Sync Folder → Used for syncing all documents
Selective Sync Folder → Used for syncing selected documents only
These folders are configured via system settings and cannot be modified by end users.
Naming Convention
Documents follow a predefined naming logic set at the enterprise level
If a document type is recognized → standard naming is applied
If a document type is not recognized → a default naming convention will be used (fallback)
FAQs
Can I use Selective Sync without Bulk Sync?
No. Bulk sync must be completed first.
Can users customise folder names or structure?
No. This is controlled via enterprise configuration.
What happens if a document type is missing?
The system will still sync the document using a default naming format.
Does selective sync affect other features, like downloads or previews?
No. Selective sync only impacts how documents are sent to SharePoint, not how they behave within Infinity.
Summary
Always perform Bulk Sync first
Use Selective Sync for specific document uploads
Expect separate folders for bulk and selective sync
Naming is system-controlled, with a fallback in place
