Overview
The latest Smart Reporting update introduces Favorites and Canvas, making it easier to save, organise, and revisit your most frequently used reports.
Previously, charts generated through Smart Reporting were only available within the conversation where they were created. With this update, you can save charts as favourites and build your own reporting dashboards using Canvas.
What's New
⭐ Favorites
Save charts you've generated in Smart Reporting so you don't need to recreate or search through previous conversations.
📊 Canvas
Create your own reporting dashboard by combining multiple favourite charts into a single view.
Each chart can display either:
- Live Data – Always displays the latest available data.
- Snapshot – Preserves the chart exactly as it looked when it was saved.
How Favorites Work
When Smart Reporting generates a chart:
- Click Add to Favorites.
- Enter a name for the chart.
- Save it.
Your saved chart will now appear in the Favorites tab and can be reused at any time.
Why use Favorites?
Without Favorites, charts remain within the original Smart Reporting conversation, making them difficult to locate after additional questions have been asked.
Favorites provide quick access to reports you use regularly.
Creating a Canvas
A Canvas allows you to build a personalised reporting dashboard using your saved charts.
To create a Canvas
- Open the Canvas tab.
- Click New Canvas.
- Enter a name for your dashboard.
- Select Add Chart.
- Choose one or more charts from your Favorites.
- Arrange the charts to create your dashboard.
You can continue adding additional charts as your reporting needs evolve.
Live Data vs Snapshot
When adding a chart to a Canvas, choose how it should display.
| Mode | Description |
|---|---|
| Live Data | Refreshes automatically using the latest available data whenever the Canvas is opened. |
| Snapshot | Saves a static version of the chart exactly as it appeared when it was added. |
Use Live Data for operational dashboards and Snapshot when you need to preserve historical reporting.
Sharing (Coming Soon)
Canvas dashboards will soon support sharing across your broker business.
When shared:
- Team members can reuse your dashboard layout.
- Users will only see data they have permission to access.
- Existing security and role permissions remain unchanged.
Best Practices
- Save frequently used charts as Favorites.
- Group related charts into a single Canvas for easier reporting.
- Use Live Data for dashboards you review regularly.
- Use Snapshots when you need to retain a point-in-time report.
- Create separate Canvas dashboards for different business functions, such as sales, marketing, operations, or compliance.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a Favorite and a Canvas?
A Favorite is a single saved chart.
A Canvas is a dashboard that contains one or more favourite charts.
Do I need to recreate reports every time?
No. Once a chart has been added to Favorites, it can be reused in any Canvas without generating the report again.
Will my charts update automatically?
Only charts configured as Live Data will automatically refresh with the latest available data.
Charts saved as Snapshots remain unchanged until a new snapshot is created.
Can I share my Canvas?
Not yet. Sharing functionality is currently planned for a future release. When available, users will be able to share dashboard layouts while maintaining role-based data permissions.
