Janet, Effi's Voice AI, now keeps following up when a client can't talk. She calls back at the time they ask for, texts when they don't answer, and picks up the conversation where it left off.
Overview
Most voice agents can make the first call. Real life is messier: clients get busy, and plans change. With intelligent retries, Janet treats every attempt as one conversation. She works in three steps:
| Step | What Janet does |
|---|---|
| Listen | Remembers what the client asked for, such as "call me tomorrow around 10" |
| Adapt | Schedules the next attempt for the time that suits the client |
| Reconnect | Picks up naturally and carries on gathering details |

How it works
Here's a real-world example: Janet calling Graeme about his refinance enquiry. The calls are edited excerpts.
1. First call: the client asks for a callback.
Janet introduces herself and the reason for the call. Graeme says it's not a good time and asks her to call back later that day. Janet sets a later date as the next best time.
2. Retry 1, later that day: the client picks a new time.
Janet calls back and checks if now is better. Graeme asks for tomorrow around 10 am. Janet confirms and books it.
3. Retry 2, next morning at 10 am: plans change again.
Janet opens with "calling you back at 10 as you asked". Graeme asks her to try around 6 tonight instead. Janet agrees and reschedules.
4. Retry 3, 6 pm: no answer, so Janet texts.
If the client doesn't pick up, Janet follows up by SMS so they can choose a time that suits:
Hi Graeme, I just tried you again. Let me know when would work better. — Janet
Graeme replies, "Tomorrow at 10 works," and the callback is scheduled for 10 am automatically.
5. Retry 4 the following morning at 10 am: the conversation continues.
Graeme is free. Janet moves straight into the refinance questions, such as the current lender and rate. The refinance details are captured in Effi.
